Ita Odo

Early Life on Rodia
Born in the humid jungles of Rodia, Ita Odo grew up in the city of Equatorius, a bustling trade hub known for its underworld dealings. Ita’s family was poor, eking out a living selling scavenged goods from the dangerous swamps. From a young age, Ita learned how to move unseen and think quickly to survive the rough streets.

Her father, a cunning but unlucky gambler, introduced her to the galaxy’s games of chance. By the time she was a teenager, Ita had mastered Pazaak and Kessel Sabacc, often sneaking into cantinas to hustle travelers out of their credits. However, her sharp mind and quick hands didn’t go unnoticed, and she soon caught the attention of local crime bosses.

Arrival on Nar Shaddaa
When Ita was 19, she fled Rodia after a botched theft from a Crimson Dawn spice runner. She hitched a ride on a smuggler's freighter and ended up on Nar Shaddaa, the Smuggler’s Moon. There, Ita carved out a life as a thief and gambler, exploiting the chaos and corruption of the Hutt-controlled moon.

Nar Shaddaa was a paradise for someone like Ita—a place where quick wits and sharper reflexes mattered more than titles or heritage. She frequented cantinas and gambling dens, building a reputation as a fearless player and an elusive thief. Her skills drew the attention of various factions, each eager to use her talents for their own ends.

Entanglements with Major Factions
The Hutt Cartel
Ita found herself working for the Hutt Cartel early on, stealing sensitive cargo and slicing into rival syndicates’ data networks. Her knack for getting in and out without being caught made her a valuable asset. However, Ita despised the Hutts’ arrogance and brutal enforcement methods. She worked with them only as long as the credits kept flowing and avoided pledging loyalty to any single Hutt.

The Pyke Syndicate
While Ita’s relationship with the Hutts was transactional, her dealings with the Pyke Syndicate were more volatile. The Pykes offered her lucrative jobs smuggling spice and sabotaging rivals, but Ita quickly learned their ruthless reputation wasn’t exaggerated. After failing to deliver a critical shipment due to an Imperial raid, Ita narrowly escaped with her life. The Pykes have since placed a modest bounty on her head, though Ita’s skills have kept her ahead of their hunters.

Crimson Dawn
Crimson Dawn intrigued Ita more than the other syndicates. Their blend of brutality and refinement mirrored her own blend of cunning and charm. She occasionally fed them information about Hutt or Pyke operations in exchange for protection or credits, making her an unofficial informant. However, she has no illusions about their loyalty and always keeps an escape plan ready.

Feelings Toward the Empire
Ita despises the Empire but knows better than to openly oppose them. She sees them as another oppressive force, no different from the Hutts or the Pykes, except with better uniforms. Imperial patrols on Nar Shaddaa often disrupt her operations, forcing her to bribe officers or find creative ways to avoid detection. Ita has occasionally stolen data or equipment from the Empire, selling it to interested parties for a hefty profit.

Gambling and Thieving
Gambling is Ita’s passion, second only to thieving. She views each game as a mental duel, a chance to outthink her opponent and walk away richer. Her favorites include:

Kessel Sabacc: Ita loves the fast-paced nature of the game, which rewards quick thinking and adaptability.

Pazaak: Ita’s skill at counting cards and reading opponents makes her nearly unbeatable in this strategic card game.

Dejarik: Though less profitable, Ita enjoys Dejarik for its tactical depth. She often uses it to unwind or impress potential allies.

Ita frequently combines her love of gambling with her thieving skills. A “friendly” Sabacc game might end with her lifting an opponent’s credit pouch or slicing into their data pad.

Personality and Traits
Ita is pragmatic and resourceful, driven by her pursuit of credits above all else. She has a sharp tongue and a confident demeanor that disarm her opponents, whether at the Sabacc table or in a tense negotiation. While not outright cruel, she has little patience for weakness and won’t hesitate to exploit others if it benefits her.

Despite her selfish nature, Ita has a soft spot for underdogs and occasionally helps those who remind her of her younger self. However, her aid often comes at a price.

Current Status
Ita lives in a cramped but well-hidden apartment on Nar Shaddaa, using it as a base for her gambling and thieving operations. She maintains tenuous relationships with the Hutt Cartel, Crimson Dawn, and the Pyke Syndicate, carefully navigating the dangerous web of alliances and betrayals.

Ita is always looking for her next big score, whether it’s a high-stakes Sabacc game, a valuable piece of Imperial tech, or a heist that could set her up for life. For Ita Odo, the galaxy is just one big game, and she intends to play until she holds all the cards.
